HAYNER LIBRARY

The Hayner Public Library District is located in Alton, Illinois, just Northwest of St. Louis, Missouri.
The main library was finished in 1891 and was a gift from John E. Hayner, in 1888, in memory of his wife, Jenny D. Hayner who had died that year and had been a major director of the Alton Library Assn .
In 1906, their grandson, John A. Haskell, paid for an annex to be built.

Richard Hayner took the first four photos below in 2002.
The bookmobile at bottom is from a post card issued in the early 1950's by a company in Florida that manufactured them.
