The Search
I looked around and I couldn't begin
To believe what I once had been.
I'm just beginning to accept
The traits I've changed, the few I've kept.
And, if there's one thing that I've learned,
From flames gone by and being burned,
One common tie with which to start,
Must be a faith felt from the heart.
For I know it's God that leads me far,
Like wise men following a star,
And I know that I could never stay
With one who's led another way.
So I have left it up to Him.
I'll take it as it falls,
But I will know that I've been blest,
When that true love calls.
So I keep searching for myself,
And wouldn't it be new,
If in my search to find myself,
To find myself with you.
