Present Fantasy
No, my brother, the nonsensical moments
occur in your foolish, conscious endeavors.
When the truth cannot be hidden by human weakness,
you know it is right...until you forget.
I was bragging to the braggers,
When a man started to smirk.
It hurt me like a flock of daggers.
I was angry at the truth I couldn't shirk.
Then came one who knew nothing of me.
Leave the others behind,
Tell her the things you know happen to be.
Now I feel so free, not blind.
And I knew her,
And I knew she had known.
And I saw her,
And the feelings she had shown.
At last I've found the one for my needs,
Who cares nothing of my deeds,
Only my heart.
And I knew her.
