13 Caught In the Crossfire Black skies were filled with a flash. The warriors met with a clash. Sounds of metal, cries of pain, Death of dead men with nothing to gain, Songs of hate that chant in my brain, Tunes that almost drive me insane. "All I want is to set you free. Another day I will let you be. All I want is to set you free Until the day you act like me." The fighting stopped... There she laid, A lady so pure. It stopped the raid. We all were sure, For there she laid. Defeat for the Moonchild. The tiger's wild. The snake and the rose, The arrows and the dove. Everyone knows She held our love. But Liberty was caught in the crossfire. Richard C. Hayner 1970 ©
